Humidity

Humidity grows out of a sensory memory—heat, moisture, condensation on windows. The series draws from Carter's growing up in Houston, where fogged glass and heavy air were part of everyday life. Over time, that visual texture became emotionally loaded, carrying a feeling of safety, softness, and being held by memory.
These paintings work like an atmosphere more than an image. The surfaces have a sense of enclosure, hazy, and tender, echoing the way memory can blur edges and soften the present. Humidity isn’t about weather; it’s about the emotional residue that lingers in the body, and how ordinary sensations can quietly carry us home.
