2026

Sara Carter’s 2026 works continue her exploration of verticality as both a structural element and an expressive form. The paintings lean into the upright architecture of the canvas, using scale, color, and movement to create spaces that feel expansive, atmospheric, and alive. As in much of her practice, the work unfolds intuitively—guided as much by instinct and inner rhythm as by formal decisions.
Carter’s process has always moved cyclically, with ideas resurfacing, shifting, and evolving. The works from 2026 reflect this ongoing movement: a continuation of long-held visual languages while opening toward new directions still taking shape. As with much of her work, the paintings feel both grounded in her history and quietly reaching toward what is still to come.
